One reason for moving to Maui is the lifestyle. You might be a windsurfer looking for good, steady wind for windsurfing or other water sports like Kitesurfing. Maui has excellent beach conditions year-round and many choices of beaches island-wide. You might be a golfer, and Maui offers world-class golf courses. I would have to say that Maui is my favorite island. Yes, I have called Maui home for 50 years. I have enjoyed traveling worldwide and haven’t seen anywhere else I would like to call home. Maui offers world-class hotels, restaurants, golf courses, beaches, hiking, and water sports.

Maybe you have lived in Waikiki for many years and want to trade it in for a simpler life away from the main tourist destinations. I do love Waikiki, but it is not a place I want to live day in and day out. Raising a family, I would want a quiet environment, maybe living in a peaceful location on Maui like Upcountry Maui at Kula or on Maui’s NorthShore in Haiku Maui, where things are a little bit slower.
My ideal dream when I was a young man was to move to Maui and surf the waves Hawaii had to offer, maybe meet a cute local girl, and put down roots. Well, dreams do come true on Maui. I married the girl of my dreams, and now I have the family to prove it. Not only do I have the family, but an extended ohana of people from all over the world and others living their dreams who have also come to Maui.
Like this crazy bunch of adventures from Switzerland, Roger and Sandra came to Maui to windsurf and fell in love with Maui. Then there are the Chen who gave up their practice of medicine in Beverly Hills and exchanged it for a home in Kula working three days a week and recently have taken up Foiling a popular new sport on Maui.
A morning walk on the beach is always a great way to start the day.

Maui has many events, like the Seabury Crafts fair, with some friends and guests enjoying the fair. I try to make these events every year. We also just finished the Maui Film Festival, a massive event by Barry Rivers in Wailea every year.
Every Saturday, you have the Kula Farmers Market. If you love fresh veggies, hot breakfast, and meeting a lot of friends, it’s worth the trip.
Maui has so many fun things to do; I love it when you can enjoy a little Hula. Sometimes, they have free Hawaiian music at the Maui Arts and Cultural Center.

Upcountry Maui Life
Maui also has many opportunities to get involved in the community. Working with kids has always been a passion of mine. A group of my friends spends the weekend working with kids from parents who are incarcerated in local prisons. Many people donate their time and energy to many causes on Maui that benefit the community.
