If you happen to be in the market for buying a home in Haiku Maui lets talk about Haiku. First of all if your looking for mild weather not to hot, not to cold you would like Haiku. Now if you enjoy sleeping at night listening to the rain making music on your roof again this might be the place. Some people prefer Upcountry Kula which also is a prefect climate in a different way.
Haiku to me represents island living in a tropical setting that remind me of old Hawaii. Myself I live on little under three acres and enjoy being able to grow bananas and papayas. I love the evening rains that keep my garden and oranges trees sweet and producing. I raised my four kids in Haiku with my wife and now we have moved on to grandkids. The life syle in Haiku is a little more laid back than the rest of the island. As they say keep the country country.
Another thing that I like about Haiku is it is pretty close to everywhere. I work out of our Wailea office. Its a sweet ride to work driving past my favorite surf spot Hookipa Beach Park. Hookipa is famous for windsurfing and surfing. Driving to town you have to pass through Paia town. I love Paia Maui, its a world class destination for many windsurfer, kiters and beach lovers. Paia is a very unique old plantation town with a lot of charm. The food is good, and great shopping that brings people to Paia from all over the world.
