It’s the 4th of July Weekend on Maui
The 4th of July starts out with major events, first of the Makawao Rodeo. This is a local tradition that has been going on for years. You start out with the parade starting on Baldwin Ave. It really is a fun event for everyone. You have beautiful cowgirls and cowboys many who will be riding in the rodeo. The streets are line with people from all over Maui. If you’re lucky you can get some fresh donuts from Komodas Bakery, famous through out Hawaii. Then its on to Oskie Rice Arena.
While your UpCountry Maui make sure you visit Polli’s Mexican Restaurant a local favorite in Makawao. So let the events begin, the rodeo is the best show in town. While Makawao town is busy with visitors from all over the island, that is just the beginning.
Many will be taking to the beach, the weather has been perfect. My family got together for my granddaughters birthday celebration at the beach. In this photo are my granddaughters and my two sons, who are talented north shore surfers. The surf was small so we took the girls out to surf at our favorite surf break. On small days on the north shore you will find tons of kids out surfing, with turtles swimming around in the pack, great fun. This is our family tradition getting together at the beach, everyone is happy.
This is my niece Sara and her two kids loving the tidal pools so cute.
My wife Ivy loves getting together with the family at the beach. Everyone is happy on a sunny day playing in the ocean.
Another great way to spend the 4th of July is windsurfing on Maui’s north shore. Today the conditions are looking good and looks like I will be rigging up for a windsurf session today. I love sailing on the northshore with pristine conditions. Maui is one of the top destinations in the world for windsurfing. Hookipa Beach is a world class windsurfing wave. Summer time Kanaha Beach is a popular gathering place for windsurfers of all ages.
Maui is such a cool and diverse place to live. I caught this pig hunter coming back from the country on a hunting trip. Their 4th of July is going to be very tasty. It’s actually good that the hunters keep the pig population down from destroying the forest and native plants. We also have a large Axis Deer population that can get out of control. Be careful at night driving in Wailea and even by the airport.
Another great way to spend on the 4th of July is a trip to Mama’s Fish House. I heard that Mama’s Fish House is one of the top ten restaurants in the United States. Food is excellent and you can’t beat the location.
It’s been said its a dog’s life on Maui. Mia and Duke love a ride to the beach and a swim for the 4th of July. They are just waiting for the tailgate to drop and they are in the truck ready to go to the beach.
So what ever your doing on Maui, fireworks in Lahaina, Makawao Rodeo, or a day at the beach. Be thankful and think for a moment of the many soldiers that laid down their lives so that we can live in a free country, we are truly blessed.
So from my family to yours, have a great 4th of July weekend. If you’re thinking about moving to Maui. I been selling real estate on Maui for 23 years, so give me a call with all your Maui real estate questions.
