There are ten reasons why people will keep coming back to Maui.

Why do people keep coming back to Maui? This one is a no-brainer; we have great weather throughout most of the year. It is not too windy, and there is lots of sunshine all year long. Let me correct myself: the north shore has wind, which is why windsurfing is so big on Maui. The rest of the island is so diverse as far as the weather goes. Upcountry in the winter, you can have snow-capped mountains up on Haleakala Carter. The north shore is more tropical and lush. It can be rainy at times, but that makes it so beautiful.
Golfing on Maui is another reason why visitors love the island. Behind me is Wailea’s Blue Course. Wailea Makena offers world-class golf courses. I am just going to be upfront: I am a terrible golfer. But Maui has golf courses all over the island, with Kapalua Resort being the home to championship golf every year.
- Maui has some of the best hotels in the world. The main resort communities are Wailea Resort, Kaanapali, and Kapalua Maui. They all offer just a little bit different amenities, pools, and comfort. The Four Seasons Hotel in Wailea is a 5-star hotel that pampers their island guest with comfort and service. My favorite hotel is the Kea A Lani Fairmont Hotel, I like how spacious the grounds are, and each unit is a suite. Kaanapali also has some amazing hotels, the Westin is a top-rated
Kea A Lani Hotel is an island favorite.

Maui is known around the world for having some of the best beaches in the world. If you drive around from Kapalua, Kaanapali, South Maui, the north shore, and on to Hana, you will discover pristine beaches in the winter that offer large surf throughout the winter.
You used to hear a song on the radio, 24 Bridges to Hana Town. When my kids were young, they counted all the bridges until we arrived in Hana Town. Hana is like stepping back in time; there is nowhere in Hawaii like Hana. There is excellent hiking, and I always enjoy spending the day at Hamoa Beach, which is in the picture above. Hana also has food trucks, and you can stop at Hasegawa General Store, a landmark in Hana Town. Not only will you see endless waterfalls, but I love the drive around the back side of the mountain for a drive through Kaupo. You must make a Hana trip at least once in your life.
How about a sunset dinner with your best friends over Haleakala Crater? It’s 10,000 feet above sea level, so dress warm. I’m lucky I have a good stash of snowboarding clothes; it’s not so cold.
I would say a trip on the Trilogy Excursions is one you don’t want to miss. We were doing a dinner cruise, it was Capt Jimmy Coons birthday. But, I recommend a trip to Lanai on the Trilogy, which is the best way to spend the day sailing into the harbor at Lanai. Beautiful beach, if you’re lucky you can swim with the dolphins.
A visit to upcountry Maui is a great way to spend the day. You have the Kula Farmers Market on Saturday morning, a very happening event. Makawao Town is a very cool place, with many exciting shops and places to eat. Cassonova’s serves Italian food and has a cafe where you can hang out and have hot drinks. One of Maui’s popular eateries is Pollis Mexican Restaurant, the owner Tim is an avid windsurfer and cool guy. I like the new coffee shop Sip Me a very hip place to hang out, great pastries and atmosphere. Make sure you don’t miss the 4th of July events in Makawao, fun for the whole family with parade and Rodeo events.
The Northshore of Maui is the center of some of the most exciting ocean action on Maui. You have world-champion windsurfers, kitesurfers, and big-wave surfers charging Jaws. Then there is the rest of us, myself. I love surfing, and when the surf’s not good, I enjoy windsurfing at Kanaha Beach. You also have Paia town, a great shopping place and eateries. Baldwin Beach is another beautiful north shore beach. If you’re looking for a sweet B&B on the north shore, I have a 5-star 2-bit cottage in Haiku Maui, a charming place on 2 acres.
Number 10 on my list is an evening at Maui Arts and Cultural Center. Enjoy an evening concert, play, or maybe an evening with Tony Bennet or Carlos Santana. They also have art exhibits, events, and movies. So, I am sure there is a longer list of things to do in Maui. I want to say Maui is such a special place to call home. If you have questions about moving to Maui or buying real estate give me a call.
Aloha and Enjoy Maui
